OpenID Connect as a log in method via the Enterprise Manager API

From Enterprise Manager May 2023, customers can use OpenID Connect to log in to Enterprise Manager via the API. OpenID Connect provides an extra layer of security as only users with a specially generated Personal Access Token can access Enterprise Manager.

The high-level flow involves the following steps:

  • Step 1: In Okta, create an app integration that uses OpenID Connect
  • Step 2: In Enterprise Manager, enable Enterprise Manager to communicate with Okta (using the CLI)

  • Step 3: In Enterprise Manager, generate a Personal Access Token
  • Step 4: Configure the Enterprise Manager API to log in using OpenID Connect

Tokens can also be revoked by an Enterprise Manager admin. To facilitate this, a new Personal Access Tokens tab has been added to the Enterprise Manager settings:

For details, see Setting up Personal Access Token authentication for the API
