Additional server management options

In addition to adding servers, you can also perform other management tasks, as described in the following table. Note that before performing any of the actions, you must first select the desired server or servers (multiple selection is supported for some actions).

Server management actions

Edit a server

Double-click the server.

OR

Right-click the server and select Connection Properties.

OR

Select the server and then click the Connection Properties button on the toolbar.

Edit the information as described in Adding Servers.

Manage Endpoints Connections (Replicate Servers only)

Click Manage Endpoints.

Edit the information as described in Adding an Endpoint.

Create a new task on the server (Replicate Servers only)

Click New Task.

Edit the information as described in Setting up Tasks.

View server log files

If you need more detailed information about a server, you can view the log files directly from within Enterprise Manager. See Viewing and downloading log files.

Start monitoring or stop monitoring a server

Stopping monitoring servers may be useful when a maintenance window, upgrade, or known outage is coming up, or when you want to focus on a single server or a set of servers without being disrupted by messages and tasks from other servers.

Information note

When you stop monitoring a server, the server appears as disabled in the Servers View, the Tasks View does not include any tasks for the respective server, and the Message Center does not show new messages for the respective server.

Information note

You need the admin role to be able to start or stop monitoring a server.

Right-click the server and select Stop Monitoring/Start Monitoringaccordingly.

OR

Select the server and then click the Stop Monitoring or Start Monitoring button on the toolbar.

Delete a server

Information note

Deleting a server deletes the tasks and the message history for the respective server.

Information note

You need the admin role to be able to delete a server.

Right-click the server and select Delete.

OR

Select the server and then click Delete.

When prompted to confirm the deletion. click Yes.

Register a server license

See Registering a license for a monitored server .

Edit user permissions on the server level, for all tasks on the server, or for all endpoints (relevant to Replicate Servers only) on the server.

Click Server Permissions. Follow the instructions in Managing user permissions.
