Installing Qlik GeoAnalytics for QlikView Server

This is a guide to installing Qlik GeoAnalytics on a QlikView Server.

Note that you will need a Qlik LEF license to install version 5.8 or later.

Installation

  1. Download GeoAnalyticsForQlikViewServer<version>.zip from the Qlik Download Site.

    Downloads

  2. Unzip the file into any folder on the server computer.

  3. Navigate to the folder where you unzipped the file.

  4. Move the unzipped extension files into the folder where your QlikView Server will check for new extensions. This file path differs based on the server OS, as follows:
    • Windows Server 2008: C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects
    • Windows Server 2003: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects
  5. After you have placed all GeoAnalytics files the directory structure should contain these folders:
    • ..\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects\IdevioAreaLayer
    • ..\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects\IdevioBubbleLayer
    • ..\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects\IdevioChartLayer
    • ..\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects\IdevioLineLayer
    • ..\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects\IdevioHeatmapLayer
    • ..\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects\IdevioGeodataLayer
    • ..\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects\IdevioMap
  6. Run the GeoAnalyticsSetup file to set up GeoAnalytics. This will require you to activate your serial number and license.

Custom installation

If you have set up your QlikView Server installation to use non-default resource paths, select the Custom Installation option when activating your license in the GeoAnalyticsSetup file.

Configuration

You can configure a few global extension settings by editing the file IdevioMap\settings.js in the QlikView extensions folder by adding or changing the values of the following properties.

Information note

The settings file is overwritten when upgrading, so any settings will need to be applied again. It is therefore recommended that you, if you edit the settings, make a copy of the file for easy restoration after upgrade.

Configuration settings
Setting Type Description
server string Default GeoAnalytics server URL
allowCustomServer boolean If false maps will ignore the map server URL setting in their properties and instead use the default URL
safeHtml boolean If true info bubbles will be limited to only allow a small safer subset of HTML tags (a,b,br,em,i,img, small, span, strong, sup, sub) and attributes (class, style, href, target, rel, alt, src, height, width)

Updating

To update your existing GeoAnalytics for QlikView Server installation, remove all GeoAnalytics extension folders, and repeat the installation process with the updated extension files.

Troubleshooting installation

If you install the GeoAnalytics extensions as instructed, but QlikView Server displays an "Invalid Visualization" error, it is likely a QlikView cache error.

To resolve this issue, you need to clear your browser cache. If you have the same problem with other QlikView Server apps, repeat the process with that app.
