Installing Qlik GeoAnalytics for Qlik Sense Desktop

This page contains information that is specific for the installation of Qlik GeoAnalytics for Qlik Sense Desktop.

Feedback is most welcome. Please contact Qlik Support for support.

Requirements

  • Qlik GeoAnalytics for Qlik Sense Desktop. For best performance use the most recent version.

  • Same browsers as those supported by Qlik Sense.

Installation

For information about downloading QlikGeoAnalytics for Qlik Sense Desktop, see Downloads.

Make sure you have the executable installation program and not the zip-file based installation for Qlik Sense server. Run the installation program. It will ask for installation directories, these fields will normally be prepopulated with the standard paths to the Qlik Sense extension and connector(GeoAnalytics) folder. If for some reason the paths are wrong you can correct the paths. It will then ask for a license key and a server URL for Qlik GeoAnalytics for Qlik Sense Desktop. These can be left unchanged if you don’t intend to run a local server. If you are updating from an earlier version where you have used GeoAnalytics plus the Default Server URL for that field should be ‘local’.

If you do not have a license, please contact a Qlik Sales representative to get one.

To install a license key after installation, run the installation program again.

Configuration

You can configure a few global extension settings by editing the file IdevioMap\settings.js in the Qlik Sense extensions folder by adding or changing the values of the following properties.

Information note

The settings file is overwritten when upgrading, so any settings will need to be applied again. It is therefore recommended that you, if you edit the settings, make a copy of the file for easy restoration after upgrade.

Settings
Setting Type Description
server string Default GeoAnalytics server URL
allowCustomServer boolean If false maps will ignore the map server URL setting in their properties and instead use the default URL
safeHtml boolean If true info bubbles will be limited to only allow a small safer subset of HTML tags (a,b,br,em,i,img, small, span, strong, sup, sub) and attributes (class, style, href, target, rel, alt, src, height, width)

Upgrading

Do the same as when installing as described above. The installation program will use the installed license as default (you can also change it during the installation).

After installing/updating, clear cache

After the installation process has been completed you might need to clear the cache for the browser you using to view Qlik Sense.

If you install Qlik Sense and the Extensions as instructed but get the error “Invalid Visualization”, it most likely is because Qlik Sense occasionally has problems with its cache. To resolve this issue you need to clear the browser cache, but how you do that depends on how you run Qlik Sense.

Below you will find a short step by step guide on how to clear the cache depending on how you run Qlik Sense. Terminology may differ between languages but the functionality should be the same.
